Welcome to faithuntofaith.com!
Why faithuntofaith.com? To fully understand our decision one must consider the source. In Romans 1:16-17, the apostle Paul gives the theme of the entire letter:
"For I am not ashamed of the gospel: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is revealed a righteousness of God from faith unto faith: as it is written, But the righteous shall live by faith."
The entire letter is an explanation of the gospel and its saving power! He states that anyone can be saved by it. Why is that? "For therein is revealed a righteousness of God from faith unto faith" What does that phrase mean "faith unto faith?"
This phrase is simple to understand when logic is applied. The two faiths can not be the same thing because one goes from faith unto faith. You can not go somewhere if you never leave, therefore the faiths have to be different. In Ephesians 4:5, Paul say that there is only one Faith. How can these two passages not be contradicting each other?
One must understand how the word faith is used in the Bible. Faith is referred to in two senses in the Bible: Objective faith and subjective faith. Objective means that people can not have any effect on faith; this faith, when applied, is uniform and singular for everyone. Subjective means that it is up to the person who posses it to determine in definitions; everyone can believe something different and it would be their own "faith."
Faith unto faith means that the righteousness of God is revealed in "the faith," on objective source of faith, and when a person applies it to themselves it becomes their faith, subjective. God has always required that man follow his laws. He requires us to have faith (Hebrews 11:6), repentance (Acts 17:30), confession of Him (Matthew 10:32-33), baptism (Acts 2:37-38), and a faithful life there after (Revelation 2:10, Hebrews 4:1-2). When one reads and applies God's Word, the bible, and applies it in their life, he is deemed righteous by God. This does not come about by anything one does, but is the obedience God requires in order for to save one's soul. |
